Women Holding Hands

Testimonials

Lauren, a first-time mom, struggled with breastfeeding. She attended a breastfeeding support group at a local hospital. Fortunately, the lactation consultant recognized that she was emotionally struggling and introduced her to Ivana and the Mom2Mom peer program.

"My OB didn't screen me for postpartum depression, but even if she had, I was too afraid to admit it. Without PPSC’s support, I don't think I would have received help," Lauren says.

Kathy, a mother of 2 in Marin, didn't know how to deal with these kinds of feelings after her second child was born. "I didn't have anyone to talk to about how lost I felt as a second-time mother. It was my 2nd child, I thought I was prepared, I thought it would be easier this time around. I felt too ashamed to open up - thankfully my friend introduced me to Postpartum Support Center. Understanding and support I have received thus far from peer mothers are priceless." Kathy says.

I didn’t know who to turn to after having my baby. I felt like I was drowning in worry and shame. PPSC was the first place where I felt heard. The peer support saved me."

"I found PPSC by chance when I was looking for a place to donate my office's surplus of formula samples last spring. I had no idea how much finding PPSC would change my life. Over the past year I've gone from weekly volunteer, to full-time volunteer, to full-time employee and I've never looked back. It’s powerful to be part of something so real and so needed, and to know deep down that I am doing the work that I am meant to be doing."

"I was pregnant and transitioning out of homelessness into permanent housing. I was in need of resources to be able to support me and my child.. The women at PPSC were so kind and welcoming. They provided me with diapers and clothes for my son. This program has become a pillar of strength and support to me as a single mother here in Marin...PPSC didn’t just help me survive, they helped me become the mom I always hoped I could be."
