What is the PPSC?

The Postpartum Support Center is a community-based, peer-run, and peer-focused nonprofit organization founded in Marin County, California. Our purpose is to provide a support system to expectant and new parents and families in need. Our main goals are to help perinatal families navigate the postpartum period, reduce parental stress, and build effective support systems. With the help of the PPSC, new mothers are no longer alone in their struggles. The PPSC serves Marin and Sonoma counties.

Making A Meaningful Impact Together

Our mission is, above all, to promote the mental health and well-being of expectant and new mothers and families by providing them with a comprehensive support system. We also strive to bridge the perinatal mental health treatment gap by normalizing and destigmatizing perinatal mental disorders.

Our vision is to cultivate a supportive, stigma-free community for new mothers and families. We believe that all parents and families deserve access to high-quality care, information, and resources.

The Postpartum Support Center works with hospitals, local organizations, social workers, volunteers, and other partners to enhance the way mothers and families navigate the postpartum period. Our programs provide support to new parents who need additional social support, information, and resources.

New parents often have difficulty in finding the help they need. They may not have adequate access to social, emotional, practical, or informational support. At the PPSC, we provide new parents with all of this—and in the context of a supportive community.

We offer all of our programs free of charge. Our core programs include Support LinePostpartum Support GroupsMom to Mom Peer Counseling, Information, Resources & Referrals You've Got This Care Packages, and Helping Hand Certificates. We offer peer support via groups, phone calls, texts, chats, emails, and face-to-face.

We do not offer crisis management services. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911. For additional safety information, contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

Wondering where to turn for help? Doing a self-assessment for depression, anxiety, or OCD can help.
